India golfer Anirban Lahiri is making the country proud and on India's 68th Independence Day, he gave his countrymen a couple of big reasons to be proud.

The Hindu American Foundation -- comprising mainly second generation Indian American Hindu professionals, including several physicians and lawyers- -- has condemned the increasing vandalism and protests against mosques across the United States and even violence against Muslim Americans in the wake of the controversy over a proposal to build a mosque near Ground Zero in New York, saying, "These displays of bigotry are despicable."

Protests against the Ground Zero mosque might be one of the most talked about issues, but America seems to have been hit by a new wave of demonstrations directed against Islamic centres of worship not even close to controversial spots like the site of the fallen Twin Towers.
